WHAT MANNER OF MAN IS THIS?
or POWER IN THE WORD
Matthew 8:23-27; John 12:44-50
Mat. 8:23-27 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.  (24) And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.  (25) And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.  (26) And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.  (27) But the men marveled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
John 12:44-50 Jesus cried and said,  He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.  (45) And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.  (46) I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.  (47) And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.  (48)  He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.  (49) For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.  (50) And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

JESUS KNEW NO FEAR.
A. He faced sickness, sin, demons, humanity and death.
B. He was not afraid to love; He became involved in the lives of people.
C. He was not afraid to believe; He spoke of things that were not as though they were.
D. He was Perfect Love! ––
(1John 2:15 NKJV) Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
(1John 4:18 NKJV) There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

JESUS USED THE WORDS OF HIS FATHER ––
(John 3:21) "But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."
(John 3:34) "For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.
(John 12:49-50) "For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. {50} "And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak."

GOD'S PROMISE HIS WORD TO JESUS WAS GIVEN THROUGH ABRAHAM ––
(Rom 4) (Gal 3:16-19) Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, "And to seeds," as of many, but as of one, "And to your Seed," who is Christ. {17} And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, that it should make the promise of no effect. {18} For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise. {19} What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.

THE POWER JESUS USED IN HIS EARTHLY MINISTRY
IS AVAILABLE TO THE BELIEVER TODAY.
A. The Word of God.
B. The power of the Holy Spirit.
C. His faith in His Heavenly Father.

CHRISTIANITY THE NEW CREATION OF MEN ––
(2Cor 5:17) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
A. Christianity is not a religion.
B. Christianity is not a system of ethics, creeds or philosophies to guide man's conduct as some teach.
C. Christianity is union with deity!
D. We are called by God to be masters over the circumstances of this life –– (1Tim 4:8 NKJV) For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.

HOW TO CARRY OUT OUR CALLING.
A. Dedication To please the Father.
B. Singleness of purpose.
C. Leadership of the Holy Spirit.
D. Stripping away everything else –– (John 17:17 NKJV) "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
E. Looking to the Word, day and night –– (Josh 1:7-9 NKJV) "Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right   hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. {8} "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. {9}"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
F. Much prayer and fasting.
