4-FAITH

THE SPIRIT OF FAITH
2Corinthians 4:11-14 (v.13) 2Cor. 4:11-14 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. (12) So then death worketh in us, but life in you. (13) We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; (14) Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

WHAT DOES FAITH SAY?

A. Faith calls things that are not as though they ARE

(Rom 10:6-8) But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?' " (That is, to bring Christ down from above) {7} or, " 'Who will descend into the abyss?' " (That is, to bring Christ up from the dead). {8} But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach).

GOD'S WAYS ARE HIGHER THAN OUR WAYS
(Isa 55:8-11 ASV) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith Jehovah. {9} For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. {10} For as the rain cometh down and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, and giveth seed to the sower and bread to the eater; {11} so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

A. God's plan of dominion
Genesis 1:26-31 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (27) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (28) And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (29) And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. (30) And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. (31) And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

B. Man's dominion rights
(1Cor 1:26-31 ASV) For behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: {27} but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put to shame them that are wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong; {28} and the base things of the world, and the things that are despised, did God choose, yea and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought the things that are: {29} that no flesh should glory before God. {30} But of him are ye in Christ Jesus who was made unto us wisdom from God and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption: {31} that, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

JESUS USED GOD'S LAW OF DOMINION.

A. As soon as He had spoken
(Mark 1:40-42 ASV) And there cometh to him a leper, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. {41} And being moved with compassion, he stretched forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou made clean. {42} And straightway the leprosy departed from him, and he was made clean.
(Luke 13:10-13 ASV) And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath day. {11} And behold, a woman that had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years; and she was bowed together, and could in no wise lift herself up. {12} And when Jesus saw her, he called her, and said to her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. {13} And he laid his hands upon her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
(Mark 11:14 ASV) And he answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit from thee henceforward forever. And his disciples heard it.
(John 11:11 ASV) These things spake he: and after this he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus is fallen asleep; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.

ABRAHAM'S FAITH.

A. He gave God glory by calling things that are not as though they were.
(Luke 1:18 ASV) And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.
(Rom 4:19-21 ASV) And without being weakened in faith he considered his own body now as good as dead (he being about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb; {20} yet, looking unto the promise of God, he wavered not through unbelief, but waxed strong through faith, giving glory to God, {21} and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
(1Cor 1:27-28 ASV) but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put to shame them that are wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong; {28} and the base things of the world, and the things that are despised, did God choose, yea and the things that are not, that he might bring to nought the things that are:
Genesis 22:5-6 Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go yonder. We will worship, and come back to you." 6 Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. He took in his hand the fire and the knife. They both went together.

STEP-BY-STEP.

A. Go to the Word that covers the situation.

B. Keep it before you–your eyes, ears and in your mouth.
Joshua 1:7-9 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. (8) This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. (9) Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

C. Go to God on the basis of His provision, not on your needs.
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

D. Speak to the mountain the end results according to God's Word
(1Sam 17:45-46 ASV) Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a javelin: but I come to thee in the name of Jehovah of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. {46} This day will Jehovah deliver thee into my hand; and I will smite thee, and take thy head from off thee; and I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day unto the birds of the heavens, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

E. THEN PRAISE GOD BECAUSE THE WORK IS DONE!
