Heb. 3:1-2; 7:22-25; Heb 3:1-2 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;  (2) Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.

Heb 7:22-25 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.  (23) And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:  (24) But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.  (25) Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

All too little is being taught and preached about what He is doing now.

He not only gave his life for us, but He is still giving his life to us.

A. Jesus before the cross—Man of sorrow.

B. Jesus on the cross—The Son made sin.

C. Jesus now seated at the right hand of Majesty on High.

A. HIGH PRIEST –– (Heb 3:1) Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;——(Heb 9:12-15) Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. {13} For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: {14} How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? {15} And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.         (Heb 9:25) Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;——(Heb 10:1-4) For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. {2} For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. {3} But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. {4} For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

1. Jesus offered Himself to God without spot –– (John 20:15-17) Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? Whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. {16} Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. {17} Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

2. He is the guarantee of the New Covenant –– (Heb 7:22) By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

3. He made it possible for our redemption, righteousness, eternal life and the standing of sons before the Father.

B. MEDIATOR –– (1Tim 2:5) For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

1. Man could not approach God in his condition of spiritual death.

2. Jesus now presents man holy, righteous and without blemish to God, giving man a right to approach God-through Christ –– (Eph 4:24) And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

C. INTERCESSOR (Heb 7:25) Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

1. Jesus is the mediator for sinners, but He is the intercessor for Christians.

2. Why do we need an intercessor?

a. Before we were born again, we walked according to Satan –– (Rom 12:2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

b. Eph. 4:22-24 shows us our need for a renewed mind –– (Eph 4:22-24) That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; {23} And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; {24} And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

c. Until we learn and become skillful in the Word of righteousness we strain our fellowship and have great need for an intercessor.

d. He is able to save us to the utmost.

D. ADVOCATE –– (1John 2:1) My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

1. 1Jn 1:3-9 is God's method of maintaining our fellowship Him.

2. Don't just confess - confess and receive. This is the most vital in the revelation of the plan of redemption.

1. Jesus is Lord over all. Lord is used 700 times in the NT.

2. Satan was lord over the world and still is lord over natural men –– (2Cor 4:4) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.——(Eph 2:2) Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

a. After Adam's fall, Satan became what God should have been man's lord.

b. Through the entrance of death, Satan dominated mankind.

c. Satan had the power of death –– (Heb 2:14) Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

d. Jesus now has this power –– (Rev 1:18) I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

3. Christ the Conqueror.

a. God could not annul what Adam had done.

b. The Incarnation of Christ gave Him no relationship to Satan.

c. The life of Christ on earth is an example of a man free from the lordship of Satan.

d. Once again, the forces of nature were under the control of a man as we read in Gen. 1:26-31 And God said, let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over all the creepers creeping on the earth.  27 And God created the man in His own image; in the image of God He created him. He created them male and female.  28 And God blessed them; and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and rule over the fish of the seas, and over birds of the heavens, and over all beasts creeping on the earth.  29  And God said, Behold, I have given you every plant seeding seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree in which is the fruit of a tree seeding seed; it shall be food for you.  30 And to every beast of the earth, and to all birds of the heavens, and to every creeper on the earth which has in it a living soul, every green plant is for food. And it was so.  31 And God saw everything that He had made and behold, it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning the sixth day.

e. Jesus was not ruled by the fear of death. He made Himself obedient to death –– (Phil 2:8) And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

f. The lordship of Satan over men had to be broken by a man. IT WAS! –– (Heb 10:10) by which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

4. Christ was crowned Lord for man-His body –– Ephesians 1:12-22 for us to be to the praise of His glory, the ones who had previously trusted in Christ;  13  in whom also you, hearing the Word of Truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also believing you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,  14  who is an earnest of our inheritance, to the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.  15  Because of this, hearing of your faith in the Lord Jesus and love toward all the saints,  16  I also do not cease giving thanks on your behalf, making mention of you in my prayers,  17  that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the full knowledge of Him,  18  the eyes of your mind having been enlightened, for you to know what is the hope of His calling, and what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,  19  and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us, the ones believing according to the working of His mighty strength  20  which He worked in Christ in raising Him from the dead; yea, He seated Him at His right hand in the heavenlies, 21  far above all rule, and authority, and power, and lordship, and every name having been named, not only in this age, but also in the coming age;  22  and He "put all things under His feet" and gave Him to be Head over all things to the assembly.  Psalms 110:1 A declaration of Jehovah to my Lord: Sit at My right hand, until I place Your enemies as Your footstool. Psalms 8:6 You made him rule over the works of Your hands; You have put all under his feet.

5. Man needs more than forgiveness; he needs a personal Lord.

a. (Rom 10:12-13) For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. {13} For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

b. As new creatures we confess Jesus' Lordship over everything.

c. Example: Jesus is Lord over my life and family.

d. This means that every need is met as Jesus is accepted as Lord over that need!
