5-DIVINE HEALING

WHY GREATER WORKS?
John 14:12 WEB Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.
John 14:12 AMP  I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father.

 1. Satan is cast out (John 12:31) Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

 2. Satan's defeat on the cross
(Col 2:14-17) Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it. 16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
(1Pet 2:24) Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

 3. Completed redemption – Col 2:14-17;
(John 19:30) When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. —
(1Pet 1:10-12) Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: 11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. 12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

 4. Spirit baptism which could not be given until Jesus was glorified – Acts 1:4-8; 2:33;
(John 7:37-39) In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

 5. Christ's intercession for believers –
(Rom 8:34) Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. —
(Heb 7:25) Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

 6. Christ's restored glory
(John 17:5) And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

 7. High priesthood of Christ – Heb 6:20; 7:11-28; 9:11-15;
(Heb 4:14-16) Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

 8. Headship of all powers – 1Pet 3:22; Col 2:10.
(Eph 1:20-23) Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

 9. All authority given to Christ to give to believers– Jn 14:12-15; Acts 1:8;
(Mat 28:18-20) And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

10. Completed victory over death, hell and the grave – Heb 2:14-15; Rev 1:18;
(Col 2:14-15) Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

11. Christ's headship of the church– Eph 1:20-23; Col 1:16-18,24;
(Col 1:16-18) For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

12. New Covenant based upon better promises – Mt 26:28; 2Cor 3:6-15;
(Heb 8:6) But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

13. New Covenant confirmed by greater powers– Mk 16:15-20; Lk 24:49; 2Cor 3:6-15; 2Pet 1:1-10;
(Heb 2:1-4) Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. 2 For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; 4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

14. Fullness of grace possible in Christ – Jn 1:17; Col 2:10;
(Col 2:10) And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

15. Full salvation glory that was to follow the sufferings – Heb 2:1-4; 2Cor 3;

16. Entrance into the holiest by every believer – Heb 10:19-38;
(Eph 2:14-18) For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. 18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

17. Time for God to bless both Jews and Gentiles alike– Eph 2:14-18; 3:1-11;
(Rom 10:9-14) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

18. Time to send men with full authority and power as God sent Christ– Jn 17:18;
(John 20:21) Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

19. Time for each believer to receive all the gifts and fruit of the Spirit, which they could only receive in part in OT times – John 7:37-39; 14:12-15; Mt 17:20; 21:22; (Mark 9:23) Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

20. No limitations in Christ, in the Spirit, and in the full benefits of the gospel promises– Mt 17:20; 21:22; Mk 9:23; Jn 15:7,16; 2Cor 1:20; 2Pet 1:1-12;
(Mark 11:22-24) And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

21. Time for the universality of the program of God in blessing all nations– Mt 28:18-20; Mk 16:15-20; Lk 24:47-49; Acts 1:4-8;
(Gen 12:1-3) Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
      a. believers would be carrying out the full program
          of the Gospel in worldwide works of power.

      b. even in a greater degree and kind according to needs.

22. Because I go to My Father and will not be here to continue My works or do greater ones.
(Mat 10:1) And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. —
(Mat 10:8) Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

      a. I will give My power to My disciples to carry on where I stopped.
      b. They will do greater works - that I would have done if I had continued – v12.
      c. I will give them authority and see to it that My work is carried on through them –
