15-HEALING—IS IT GOD'S WILL?

HEALING–IS IT GOD'S WILL?
Luke 5:12-13; John 14:7-9; Acts 10:38; Isa. 53:4-10
Luke 5:12-13 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. (13) And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
John 14:7-9 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. (8) Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. (9) Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
Isaiah 53:4-10 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. (5) But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (6) All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. (7) He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. (8) He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. (9) And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. (10) Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

THE DIVIDED HOUSE.

  • A house divided against itself Will fall — (Luke 11:17) But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.
  • (Luke 9:56) For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

LOOK AT GOD AT WORK.

  • To see God, look at Jesus. To hear God, listen to Jesus.
  • Jesus gives the steps to healing. He states plainly what He will do — Mat. 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, And their ears are dull of hearing, And their eyes they have closed; Lest haply they should perceive with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And should turn again, And I should heal them.
  • It was God's will that she be delivered — (Luke 13:16) And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?

HE BORE OUR SICKNESS — (Ex 23:25) And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

  • Quote from William Branham: "The divine gifts of healing do not give any man power to heal anyone he chooses. The laying on of hands for the healing of the sick is an act of obedience taught by the Lord Jesus Christ."
  • Jesus gave His men power over all manner of sickness not just over certain people with disease — (Mat 10:1) And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
  • Jesus instructs to freely give–not pick and choose and give — (Mat 10:8) Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

JESUS BORE OUR SICKNESS AND DISEASE AT THE SAME TIME HE BORE OUR SINS —

  • (Mat 8:16-17) When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: {17} That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
  • (1Cor 6:19-20) What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? {20} For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
  • (1Pet 2:24) Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
  • We are not required to choose between our spirits and our bodies–Jesus provided for both!

JESUS BECAME SIN THAT WE BE MADE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD —

  • (2Cor 5:21) for he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of god in him.
  • He bore our diseases that we be made whole —
  • (Mat 8:17) That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
  • (Gal 3:13) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

IT IS AS MUCH GOD'S WILL THAT WE BE WELL AS IT IS FOR US TO BE SAVED.

  • Jesus came to do the will of the Father — (John 6:38) For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
  • Healing is God's will {No longer use the faith-destroying phrase, "if it be Thy will."}
  • If healing is not for everyone, how could the elders in James 5 ever pray the prayer of faith?
  • Of those bitten by serpents, as many as looked were healed—as many as looked to Jesus.
  • Everyone is on an equal basis when it comes to anything provided at the cross.
  • See to it the people know that Jesus heals all.
  • Jesus came to fulfill God's will–not to prove His divinity (John 6:38) For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
  • God need not give special revelation of His will where he has plainly revealed His will in His Word.

JESUS IS OUR FAITHFUL HIGH PRIEST.

  • The commissions have never been withdrawn–"As the Father has sent me, so send I you."
  • The Twelve — (Mat 10:1) And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
  • (Mat 10:8) Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
  • The Seventy (Luke 10).{MUST READ}
  • The entire Church (Mark 16:15-20 must read)
  • Had Jesus not healed the people, He would not have fulfilled His commission; nor pleased the Father.
  • Everything Jesus did during His earthly ministry for needy humanity was a direct revelation of the perfect will of God.
  • When on the earth, He was moved with compassion.
  • He still is able — (Heb 2:17) Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
