14-HEALING—HOW WE ARE HEALED

HOW WE ARE HEALED
Mark 16:15-20 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. (16)  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (17) And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; (18) They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. (19) So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. (20) And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

THERE ARE THREE MAJOR AREAS IN THE STUDY OF DIVINE HEALING:

  1. Healing for the world in the Name of Jesus.
  2. Healing through the elders for the Christian who has little or no knowledge of the Word.
  3. Healing for the believer who enjoys the Full-Gospel.

HEALING FOR THE WORLD IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

  1. Peter using Jesus' Name to set a man free — (Acts 3:1-10 must read) (John 14:12-14) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. {13} And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. {14} If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
  2. Jesus set the Church against sickness — (Mark 16:15-20 text above)
  3. Jesus confirmed the Word, showing Himself alive.
  4. God will meet men on the level of their needs.
  5. Healing is God's revelation Himself alive to the natural world and to natural-minded Christians.
  6. Jesus gave the steps to healing — (Mat. 13:15) For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

HEALING FOR THE CARNALLY-MINDED CHRISTIAN WHO HAS LITTLE OR NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORD — (1Cor 3:1-3) And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. {2} I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. {3} For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

  1. The carnal or natural mind is a mind ruled by the senses.
  2. Carnal mind believes only what it can hear, taste, smell, feel or see — (Heb 5:13-14) For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. {14} But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
  3. Healing is provided for the carnally-minded Christian — (Jas 5:14) Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
    1. In order for him to believe and receive, he must feel the oil and the hands of the elder and hear the prayer of faith.
    2. He could have confessed his sin to Jesus and acted on the Word if he had known the Word — (1John 1:9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
    3. Jas 5:16 tells them that they can do their own praying — (Jas 5:16) Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

HEALING FOR THE BELIEVER WHO ENJOYS THE FULLNESS OF CHRISTIANITY – Romans 8.

  1. Thomas' faith — (John 20:24-29) But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. {25} The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. {26} And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. {27} Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. {28} And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. {29} Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
  2. Abraham's faith — (Rom 4:16) Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all.
(2Cor 5:7) (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
  3. Confession brings possession — Mark 11:23-24 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that what he saith cometh to pass; he shall have it.  (24)  Therefore I say unto you, All things whatsoever ye pray and ask for, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
