But Now In Christ Jesus

BUT NOW IN CHRIST JESUS
Eph. 2:10-13 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.  (11) Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;  (12) That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:  (13) But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

NOTE: It is when we begin to take our place, begin to assume our rights and privileges in Christ, that God begins to respond to us.

NOW IN CHRIST JESUS.

  1. We became one with Christ — (Eph. 1:10,13) [10] That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:[13] In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
  2. We are a participant in the inheritance — (Col. 1:12) Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

WE ARE HOLY AND WITHOUT BLAME IN HIM BEFORE GOD —
(2Cor 5:17-21) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. {18} And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; {19} To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. {20} Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. {21} For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. —
Eph 1:4) According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: —
(Phil 2:15) That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; —
(Col 1:22) In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

NOW IN HIM WE HAVE REDEMPTION —
(John 17:15-23) I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. {16} They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. {17} Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. {18} As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. {19} And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. {20} Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; {21} That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. {22} And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: {23} I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. —
(Rom 3:21-26) But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; {22} Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: {23} For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; {24} Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: {25} Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; {26} To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. —
(Col 1:14) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

  1. Redemption from: Spiritual death; Sickness and disease.
  2. To: God — (Rev 5:9-10) And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; {10} And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
  3. (Rom 6:8-14) Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: {9} Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. {10} For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. {11} Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. {12} Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. {13} Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteous-ness unto God. {14} For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
  4. (Rom 8:2) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Gal 3:13) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

NOW IN HIM WE HAVE AN INHERITANCE.

  1. An inheritance is received after the death of the testator — (Acts 20:32) And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. — (Eph 1:10-14) That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: {11} In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: {12} That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. {13} In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, {14} Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. —  (Col 1:12) Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (Col 2:18-19) Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, {19} And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God. (Col 3:24) Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
  2. Joint-heirs with Jesus — (Rom 8:17) And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. — (Gal 4:5-7) To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. {6} And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. {7} Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. — (Heb 1:4) Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
  3. Inheritance of the Name.
  4. We have inherited Jesus' authority — (Lk 12:32) Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
  5. We have inherited the kingdom.
  6. "For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily," and you are complete in Him…NOW!! (Col 3:9-12) Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; {10} And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: {11} Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. {12} Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
  7. Heirs of salvation because of the new birth — (Heb 1:14) Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
  8. The Greek word soteria means salvation and denotes deliverance, preservation, and temporal deliverance from danger and apprehension — (Isa 54:17) No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
  9. Deliverance from God's wrath — (1Thes 1:10) And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come. — (1Pet 1:5) Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
  10. Used inclusively to sum up all the blessings bestowed by God on men in Christ through the Holy Spirit — (2Cor 6:2) (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) — (Heb 5:9) And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. — (1Pet 1:9) Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

ALL THE TREASURES OF WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE —
(Pro 2:7) He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. —
(Pro 3:13-26) Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. {14} For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. {15} She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. {16} Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. {17} Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. {18} She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her. {19} The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. {20} By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew. {21} My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: {22} So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. {23} Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. {24} When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. {25} Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. {26} For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
(1Cor 1:30) But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

  1. Walking worthy of the Lord.
  2. Fruitful in every good work.
  3. Length of days.
  4. Riches and honor.
  5. Promotion and honor.
  6. Protection.

NO CONDEMNATION
(Rom 8:1) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

  1. Walk in the Spirit (Gal 5:16) This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
  2. We are not in debt to the flesh (Rom 8:12) Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
  3. Col. 2:6 begins to explain walking in Christ (Col 2:6) As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
  4. Col. 3 through 4:6 are step-by-step instructions.

WHAT HAVE WE INHERITED?

  1. Abraham's promise (Gal 3:29) And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
  2. Salvation…soteria (Heb 1:14) Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
  3. The kingdom-treasures (Col 2:3) In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
  4. The Name — (Hebrews 1) (Mat 10:6-8) But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. {7} And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. {8} Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. — (Acts 4:12) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. — (Eph 3:15) Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
  5. The earth (Eph 4:13) Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: — (Col 3:12) Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
